Shift in Goals Improves Treatment for Severe Anorexia

This article highlights the findings of a study done on shifting goals in treating severe and enduring anorexia nervosa. Treatment for anorexia nervosa typically focuses on weight gain and patients commonly drop out of treatment. This study found that focusing on improving quality of life and social adjustment, rather than weight gain, improved treatment results for patients with severe and enduring anorexia.
